53    The Lord Our Shepherd
Psalm 23    Tune: EVAN     William H. Havergal

1. The Lord's my Shep-herd, I'll not want;
    He makes me down to lie
    In pas-tures green; He lead-eth me
    The qui-et wat-ers by.

2. My soul He doth re-store a-gain,
    And me to walk doth make
    With-in the paths of right-eous-ness,
    E'en for His own Name's sake.

3. Yea, though I walk thro' death's dark vale,
    Yet will I fear no ill,
    For Thou art with me, and Thy rod
    And staff me com-fort still.

4. A ta-ble Thou hast fur-nished me
    In pres-ence of my foes;
    My head Thou dost with oil a-noint,
    And my cup o-ver-flows.

5. Good-ness and mer-cy all my life
    Shall sure-ly fol-low me,
    And in God's house for-ev-er-more
    My dwell-ing-place shall be.

425    Unto the Lord Lift Thankful Voices
Psalm 105    Tune: PIERRE     Maitre Pierre, 1562

1. Un-to the Lord lift thank-ful voic-es,
    Come, wor-ship while your soul re-joic-es;
    Make know His do-ings far and near
    That peo-ples all His Name may fear,
    And tell, in man-y joy-ful lay,
    Of all His won-ders day by day.

2. In joy-ful song your hearts u-nit-ing,
    His works most mar-vel-ous re-cit-ing,
    Now glo-ry in His ho-ly Name;
    Let those that seek Him spread His fame,
    In-cline their Hearts to sing His praise,
    And un-to Him their an-thems raise.

3. Seek ye Jehovah and His power,
    Seek ye His presence every hour
    His works, so marvelous and great,
    Remember still, and meditate
    Upon the wonders of His hands,
    The judgments which His mouth commands.

4. Ye seed from Abraham descended,
    To whom His favors were extended,
    And Jacob's children, whom the Lord
    Has chosen, hearken to His word.
    He is the Lord, our Judge divine;
    In all the earth His glories shine.

5. Jehova's truth will stand forever,
    His covenant-bonds He will not sever;
    The word of grace which He commands
    To thousand generations stands;
    The covenant made in days of old
    With Abraham He doth uphold.

6. The Lord His covenant people planted
    In lands of nations which He granted,
    That they His statutes might observe,
    Nor from His laws might ever swerve.
    Let songs of praise to Him ascend,
    And hallelujahs without end.

  400     Trust and Praise
Psalm 146    Tune: BROCKLHSBURY     Charlotte A. Barnard

1. Hal-le-lu-jah, praise Je-ho-vah,
    O my soul, Je-ho-vah praise;
    I will sing the glo-rious prais-es
    Of my God through all my days

2. Put no con-fi-dence in princ-es,
    Nor for help on man de-pend;
    He shall die, to dust re-turn-ing,
    And his pur-pos-es shall end.

3. Hap-py is the man that choos-es
    Is-rael's God to be his aid;
    He is blest whose hope of bless-ing
    On the Lord his God is stayed.

4. Heav'n and earth the Lord cre-a-ted,
    Seas and all that they con-tain;
    He de-liv-ers from op-pres-sion,
    Right-eous-ness He will main-tain.

5. Food He dai-ly gives the hun-gry,
    Sets the mourn-ing pris-'ner free,
    Rais-es those bowed down with an-guish,
    Makes the sight-less eyes to see.

6. Well Jehovah loves the righteous,
    And the stranger He befriends,
    Helps the fatherless and widow,
    Judgment on the wicked sends.

7. Over all God reigns forever,
    Through all ages He is King;
    Unto Him, thy God, O Zion,
    Joyful hallelujahs sing.

280    The Tender Mercies of God
Psalm 103    Tune: AUTUMN    Louis von Esch

1. O my soul, bless thou Je-ho-vah,
    All with-in me bless His Name;
    Bless Je-ho-vah and for-get not
    All His mer-cies to pro-claim.
    He for-gives all thy trans-gres-sions,
    Heals thy sick-ness-es and pains;
    He re-deems thee from de-struc-tion,
    And His love thy life sus-tains.

2. He with ten-der mer-cies crowns thee,
    Sat-is-fies thy full re-quest,
    So that like the tire-less ea-gle
    Thou with youth re-newed art blessed,
    Right-eous is the Lord in judg-ment
    Un-to all that are op-pressed;
    To his peo-ple He has ev-er
    Made His good-ness man-i-fest.

3. Yea, the Lord is full of mer-cy
    And com-pas-sion for dis-tress,
    Slow to an-ger and a-bun-dant
    In His grace and ten-der-ness.
    He will not be an-gry al-way,
    Nor will He for-ev-er chide;
    Tho' we oft have sinned a-gainst Him
    Still His love and grace a-bide.

4. As the heav'ns are high a-bove us,
    Great His love to us has proved;
    Far as east from west is dis-tant,
    He has all our sins re-moved.
    As a fa-ther loves his chil-dren,
    Feel-ing pit-y for thier woes,
    So the Lord to those who fear Him
    Mer-cy and com-pas-sion shows.

196    Grateful Adoration
Psalm 72    Tune: TABLER    E. H. Frost

1. Blest be the Lord, our fa-thers's God,
    E-ter-nal King of kings,
    Who on-ly is om-nip-o-tent,
    Per-form-ing won-drous things.

2. Blest be His great and glo-rious Name
    For ev-er-more, A-men,
    And let His glo-ry fill the earth
    From shore to shore. A-men.

383    The Lord Our Maker
Psalm 139    ST. CRISPIN    George J. Elvey

1. All that I am I owe to Thee,
    Thy wis-dom, Lord, hath fash-ioned me;
    I give my Mak-er thank-ful praise,
    Whose wondrous works my soul a-maze.

2. Ere in-to be-ing I was bro't,
    Thy eye did see, and in Thy tho't
    My life in all its per-fect plan
    Was or-dered ere my days be-gan.

3. Thy tho'ts, O God, how man-i-fold,
    More pre-cious un-to me than gold!
    I muse on their in-fin-i-ty,
    A-wak-ing I am still with Thee.

4. The wick-ed Thou wilt sure-ly slay,
    From me let sin-ners turn a-way;
    They speak a-gainst the Name di-vine,
    I count God's en-e-mies as mine.

5. Search me, O God, my heart dis-cern,
    Try me, my in-most tho't to learn;
    And lead me, if in sin I stray,
    To choose the ev-er-last-ing way.

40    The Divine Law
Psalm 19    ESKRIDGE     George C Stebbins

1. The law that the Lord has or-dained
    Is per-fectr, the soul to re-store;
    His truth makes the sim-ple most wise,
    The truth that is sure ev-er-more.

2. His pre-cepts are right-eous and just,
    Re-joic-ing the heart and the mind;
    And all His com-mand-menmts are pure,
    En-light- 'ning the eyes of the blind.

3. The fear of the Lord is most clean,
    For-ev-er un-moved it has stood;
    His judg-ments are per-fect-ly true,
    In all things most right-eous and good.

4. Such treas-ure no gold can sup-ply,
    Such sweet-ness no hov-ey af-ford;
    Their warn-ings none heed and o-bey
    Byt find most a-bun-dant re-ward.

5. O who can his errors discern?
    From hidden faults, Lord, keep me free;
    Let pride never reign in my heart,
    And clear of great sin I shall be.

6. I pray that my words and my thoughts
    May all with Thy precepts accord,
    And ever be pleasing to Thee,
    My rock, my Redeemer, my Lord.

71    The Fearlessness of  Faith
Psalm 27   Tune: MILLENNIUM    Anonymous

1. Je-ho-vah is my light,
    And my sal-va-tion near;
    Who shall my soul af-fright,
    Or cause my heart to fear?
    While God my strength, my life sus-tains,
    Se-cure from fear my soul re-mains.

2. When e-vil-do-ers came
    To make my life their prey,
    They stum-bled in their shame
    And fell in sore dis-may;
    Though hosts make war on er-'ry side,
    Still fear-less I in God con-fide.

3. My one re-quest has been,
    And still this prayer I raise,
    That I may dwell with-in
    God's house through all my days,
    Je-ho-vah's beau-ty to ad-mire,
    And in His tem-ple to in-quire.

4. When troub-les round me swell,
    When fears and dan-gers throng,
    Se-cure-ly I will dwell
    In His pa-vil-ion strong;
    With-in the cov-ert of His tent
    He hides me till the storm is spent.

5. Up-lift-ed on a rock
    A-bove my foes a-round,
    A-mid the bat-tle shock
    My song shall still re-sound;
    Then joy-ful of-f'rings I will bring,
    Je-ho-vah's praise my heart shall sing.

197    The Doxology
Psalm 72    Tune: CORONATION    Oliver Holden

1. Now bless-ed be Je-ho-vah, God,
    The God of Is-ra-el,
    Who on-ly do-eth won-drous works,
    In glo-ry that ex-cel;
    Who on-ly do-eth won-drous works,
    In glo-ry that ex-cel.

2. And bless-ed be His glo-rious Name
    To all e-ter-ni-ty;
    The whole earth let His glo-ry fill.
     A-men: So let it be;
    The whole earth let His glo-ry fill.
    A-men: So let it be.

203    Life With God
Psalm 73    Tune:PRAYER    William U. Butcher

1. In sweet com-mun-ion, Lord, with Thee
    I con-stant-ly a-bide;
    My hand Thou hold-est in Thy own
   To keep me near Thy side.

2. Thy coun-sel through my earth-ly way
    Shall guide me and con-trol,
    And then to glo-ry  aft-er-ward
    Thou wilt re-ceive my soul.

3. Whom have I, Lord, in heav'n by Thee,
    To Whom my tho'ts as-pire?
    And, hav-ing Thee , on earth  is nought
    That I can yet de-sire.

4. Tho' flesh and heart should faint and fall,
    The Lord will ev-er be
    The strength and por-tion of my heart,
    My God e-ter-nal-ly.

5. To live a-part from God is death,
    'Tis good His face to seek;
    My ref-uge is the liv-ing God,
    His praise I long to speak.

221    Longing for Revival
Psalm 80    Tune:CARITAS    Adoniram J. Gordon

1. Great Shep-herd Who lead-est Thy peo-ple in love,
    'Mid cher-u-bim  dwell-ing, shine Thou from a-bove;
    In might come and save us,   Thy peo-ple re-store,
    And we shall be saved when thy Face shines once more.

2. O haste, Lord, to hear us and pit-y our woes,
    Af-flic-tion our por-tion, de-spised by our foes;
    O Lord God al-might-y,in mer-cy re-store,
    And we shall be saved when Thy face shines once more.

3. When Thou shalt re-vive us Thy name we will praise,
    And nev-er-more, turn-ing, de-part from thy ways;
    O Lord God Al-might-y, in mer-cy re-store,
    And we shall be saved when Thy face shines once more.

434    Our Father Which In Heaven Art

Our Fa-ther which in heav-en art, hal-low-ed be Thy name.
Thy king-dom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heav'n.
Give us this day our dai-ly bread. For-give , O Lord, for-give our debts,
As we for-give our debt-ors. In-to temp-ta-tion lead us not,
But de-liv-er us from e-vil. For Thine is the king-dom, the
Pow'r and the glo-ry both now and for-ev-er more. A-MEN.
